GIFT Dr. Qaiser Durrani (Dean ORIC) and Mr. Maaz Zafar Cheema (RA ORIC) visited Sitara Industry on November 22, 2022. The purpose of the visit was to have an overview of the manufacturing processes of the Sitara industry, which produces high-quality steel railings, door handles, and hinges. CEO Sitara Industry and his team briefed Dr. Durrani on the entire manufacturing process from start to finish. They shared their knowledge and history of rising from humble beginnings in the 1950s to become one of the leading domestic manufacturers of these products. They also discussed their challenges, which included a faltering economy and the overall need for automation and process upgrades in manufacturing. Dr. Durrani suggested visiting other modernized manufacturing firms to study their business practices and focus on exports. It was a very fruitful visit for developing academia-industry linkages.
